This scholarship program does not only provide educational opportunities to poor and deserving students of the community. Aside from providing educational assistance, the program likewise focuses on the character formation of the beneficiaries.
This is a unique scholarship program, in the sense that it does not only cater to those who are economically-deprived and academically-achieving, but this is an educational support program for the children of persons deprived of liberty.
Among the goals of the program is to prevent and reduce recidivism. The Binhi ng Pag-Asa, aside from instilling hope in the lives of the inmates’ children, likewise focuses on helping the youth veer away from a life of crime through education aimed at character formation.
The program’s values formation component reminds its beneficiaries that they are individuals with so much hope and worth. We help them build a future by gearing their efforts towards a life of excellence. They are reminded about the love of the people around them so that in the future, they find themselves helping others as well. They are assured that even if they are physically apart from their parents, they (parents) always had the best intentions for them (children).
Some of them feel at fault for what happened to their family which redounded to disruptions in their studies, but they are comforted by the overflowing love and support they get from the ministry.
